Paint Me a Picture

Paint Me a Picture

Paint me a picture of long ago days,
warm summer nights and simpler ways.
Paint me a picture of playing in the rain,
green apple trees and Tanager Lane.

Paint me a picture of a brand new Schwinn,
sharing my room with brothers and friends.
Paint me a picture of things to do,
Little League ball and paper routes, too.

Paint me a picture of newborn kittens,
going to the show and socks for mittens.
Paint me a picture with no childhood fears,
but please save some paint for my grownup years.
