The Two Faces of Rain
The rain is out there…somewhere, waiting to find out which part it will play.
It can come with a fury, damaging property, people and the lives of those affected.
Or, it can act as peacemaker, soothing those it comes in contact with, touching each with its gentleness and softening the edges of a long day. It allows us to appreciate both the times it's here and the time we look forward to the sun finally peeking its way from behind the clouds. It is at that time, just between the two - when the ground is still damp from the soft soaking and trees and leaves contain the crystal clear drops of each clouds bounty-that I want to stand in it with you. Uncaring about the appearance of it all, or wondering what people will say; but only allowing our thoughts to meld together as the rain blends each drop into the countless number that make for even the shortest of showers.
It is this second analogy, the one of peacemaker, that I wish for you when it rains. For that is what I wish for myself, and therefore I can connect with you over the many miles separating us. You can feel it too, can't you?
